Ever heard of Montgomery, Alabama? That’s my hometown.
Montgomery also happens to be the capitol of Alabama. The
population is around 201, 425, over 155.4 square miles of
land. The weather is wonderful. During the winters it doesn’t
get below 30 and during the summers it can get as high as
the 100’s.
There are many places to visit here in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Alabama State Capitol is gorgeous. It’s one of the
very few capitals to be known as a National Historic Landmark.
The capitol is where Jefferson Davis took oath of office as
President of the Confederate States. It is also where the
Selma-to-Montgomery March ended with Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr.
Another fun place to visit is the Alabama
Shakespeare Festival. There are 5 domes to watch plays that
Shakespeare wrote. I love going to the Shakespeare Festival
because it’s fun to get all dressed up and watch the
actors portray different characters - it’s an art. Plays
aren’t the only thing to see at the Shakespeare Festival.
There are around 5 ponds where you can feed the ducks or have
a nice picnic. My friends and I love to go out there on a
nice sunny day and eat at the picnic tables and then play
some flag football.
Another thing to check out in Montgomery is the Montgomery
Biscuits baseball team. This team started in 2001 and is the
best thing that has every come to this city. They play at
the River Walk Stadium and it’s so much fun to watch.
During the baseball games, they throw out hot biscuits and
hot dogs out in the crowd. It’s real entertainment.
Every year, Jubilee City Fest comes to Montgomery, AL. This
festival comes during Memorial Day and everyone in this city
looks forward to it. The city closes down 16 blocks downtown.
The festival consists of lots of food vendors, arts &
crafts, and best of all, concerts. We’ve had many artists
come and play at Jubilee, such as The Verve Pipe, Lynard Skynard,
Mya, Jagged Edge and many more. This by far, is THE THING
TO DO in Montgomery, Alabama.
As for shopping, there are 3 malls in this city. The best
mall by far is Eastchase, which is an outdoor mall that was
built in 2000. The hottest stores in that mall are Hollister,
Kinnucans, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Victoria’s
Secret, Rue21, and Cache.
Montgomery, AL has a lot of restaurants that we just LOVE.
Our favorite restaurant is Moe’s. It’s a southwestern
laid-back restaurant that has local bands play on Thursday
and Friday nights. We love to go out there, get us a fajita
and just relax and dance the night away. Another favorite
hangout restaurant is in our Historic District. Tomatino’s
is the name. This restaurant serves the best pizza in town
and plays the greatest classic rock songs. It is also connected
to a café and bakery. This place is definitely fun
to go to with a bunch of your friends, to just have a good
time. |
